Students watched a video clip on their ipads about obesity in the U.S.  They were asked to write down two observations.

Students watched a power pt. presentation on obesity and sugar.  They interacted by writing down answers on the dry erase boards provided.

Sugar activity using foods to show how much sugar is in each serving.  They used a bag of sugar, tsp. and a cup to try to guess the amount in the serving sizes.  Winners were given a robin egg (sugar cube)

Filming them

Last week Terry came up with the great idea of having students film each other during Badminton. He suggested that students have to showcase a underhand serve, a lob and then a smash and then put that in their SLC folder for conferences. I thought what a great idea for them to show what they are learning. But then....

This got me to thinking...not only can we do that but then students can also watch themselves and see the areas that they need to improve on. I have the APP coaches eye and while I have not yet figured out how to use it for Badminton this is something that would help the students improve on a particular skill. They would be thinking how they can get better and using technology to do so. In conclusion I think using technology to film students in action and then having them watch and analyze is great!

Many ways to figure heart rate zones.  Have used many and I would shy away from a few of them.  One of the most accurate ones I found was 180 minus your age.  Seemed to put me in a nice aerobic zone most of the time.  Would just have to check out others.
